iLux Dry Eye Treatment

iLux is a treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction due to dry eye that uses a device to apply low-level heat and gentle massaging action to the inner eyelid. The treatment is intended to soften the meibum (oil) inside the meibomian glands (oil glands) in the eyelid so the oils can easily be spread into the tear film. Clogged glands produce tears that do not adequately lubricate the eyes. When we blink, the eyelids touch and express small amounts of oil to help balance the tear film. Dry eye syndrome can cause symptoms such as eye dryness, redness, itching, and discomfort.

The iLux treatment typically takes about 10-15 minutes per session and is typically administered by a healthcare provider in a clinical setting. It is generally considered a safe and effective treatment for dry eye syndrome and may be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with other treatments such as artificial tears or prescription eye drops.

Overall, iLux is a safe and effective treatment option for dry eye syndrome that can help improve symptoms and overall eye health.
